The best way to learn about who you are and what God says about you is to start getting to know who He is.
I began by first discovering what God says about me in His Word or Bible. You might not believe or even understand what is written but that’s ok. Picking it up is a first step toward a relationship with God.
Even though I had been a Christian for years, these three questions needed answered for me. Here they are:
- How are we His Children
- Why are we so important to Him
- What does He say about me
The entire Bible answers all three of these questions and I’d encourage you to begin a daily Bible reading plan. There are many ways to do this. Some of us pick a chapter from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament. I’ll link a few free online study guides that are helpful.
I’ve listed some powerful scriptures that affected my life profoundly…..
Psalm 139:16 The Passion Translation (TPT)
David in Psalms said “No matter where we are, or even if we try to run or hide from Him, He is there. He’s all around us to guide and protect us.”
Isaiah 43:1 New Living Translation (NLT)
43 But now,
O Jacob, listen to the Lord who
O Israel, the one who formed you says,
“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you.
I have called you by name; you are mine
1 Peter 2:9 The Passion Translation (TPT)
9 But you are God’s chosen treasure[a]—priests who are kings,[b] a spiritual “nation” set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world.[c
Maybe this is the first time you have some hope that there is more to who you are and that maybe you have a plan for life designed by the One who knows you best…
Take a breath and pick up His Word and learn how much and how crazy His love is for you. He is the same today as yesterday and tomorrow. The desire and obsessive love for us is true today.
What we are all looking for is right there in the Book. Jesus Christ. He loves you so much that if it you were the only person alive He still would have given His life just for you and wants to crown you with glory and honor.
That’s his vision of you. Perfect. Sanctified. Redeemed with the Blood of the Lamb. Seated with Christ in heavenly places.
