how we fight our battles

When Jesus walked the earth with the disciples he warned them they will have battles and to anticpate them. Most importantly, He said he would not leave them vulnerable and unprotected but he would equip them for battle. This promise is for us today too.

In the New Testament Apostle Paul describes to the church of Corinth the type of battles including strongholds Christians should anticipate. These are from the enemy and can be set up in our mind, emotions and our imaginations.

These lies of the enemy are meant to keep us in bondage and when we are in bondage we are unable to be victorious in life through our relationship with Jesus. The only way we can pull down these strongholds is through speaking the Word and casting down the enemy’s thoughts BEFORE they become a stronghold!

When thoughts contradict what God says about us or our circumstances we need to speak the Word, stand on the Word and seek the Holy Spirit’s wisdom and revelation.

Zechariah 4:6 So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty. (NIV)

Praise and thanksgiving to the Father can defeat the enemy’s plans to shake our foundation.   In Philippians 4:5-7, Paul advised the early church to give thanks in all things without anxiety or worry.  He provides the peace which guards our hearts and minds.  If we are strengthened we prevent stronholds from forming by the enemy.

When our finances, health, relationships and other aspects of our lives are attacked by the enemy God tells us He is our frontline, He will fight our battles assuring the victory. We stand on what God says because God is not a liar but through the precious Blood of the Lamb our victory has been won.

2 Corinthians 10:4-6 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete. (NIV)

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. (NIV)

Isaiah 31:4 This is what the Lord says to me: “As a lion growls, a great lion over its prey— and though a whole band of shepherds is called together against it, it is not frightened by their shouts or disturbed by their clamor— so the Lord Almighty will come down to do battle on Mount Zion and on its heights (NIV
